1. Numerology and the Church Fathers

   In the early years of Christianity, the Church Fathers commented extensively on numerology.
   The Fathers repeatedly condemned the magical use of numbers which had descended from Babylonian sources to the Pythagoreans and Gnostics of their times. They denounced any system of philosophy which rested upon an exclusively numerical basis. Even so, they almost unanimously regarded the numbers of Holy Writ as full of mystical meaning, and they considered the interpretation of these mystical meanings as an important branch of exegesis. There was reluctance in the Christian teachers of the early centuries to push this recognition of the significance of numbers to extremes.

2. PEIRENE (or Pirene) was the Naiad Nymph of the fresh-water spring of the city of Korinthos (Corinth) on the Isthmos (southern Greece).
   She was a daughter of the Sikyonian River-god Asopos who was carried off by Poseidon to the site of the town. There she bore him two sons after whom the city's twin ports, on opposite coasts of the Isthmus, were named. 3. POSEIDON was the god of the sea, the sources of fresh water, horses and earthquakes. The majority of Poseidon's children were only linked to him with the briefest of genealogical references. Most of these were given his paternity to emphasize their rough and brutal nature (as in the many opponents of Herakles and his giant sons). Others were the mythical founders of certain (historical) noble houses, especially those of towns where the god was worshipped.
   ANIMAL OFFSPRING AREION An Immortal Horse owned by the heroes Herakles and Adrastos. He was the son of Poseidon and Demeter, born following their mating in the shape of horses.
   KHRYSOMALLOS A golden-fleeced flying ram who spoke with a human tongue. He was a son of Poseidon and Theophane.

4. PEGASOS (or Pegasus) was an immortal, winged horse which sprang forth from the neck of Medousa when she was beheaded by the hero Perseus. Pegasos was tamed by Bellerophon, a Korinthian hero, who rode him into battle against the fire-breathing Khimaira. Later, after the hero attempted to fly to heaven, the gods caused the horse to buck, throwing him back down to earth.    The horse was also placed amongst the stars as a constellation, whose rising marked the arrival of the warmer weather of spring and seasonal rainstorms. As such he was often named thunderbolt-bearer of Zeus. In the constellation myths, Pegasos ("Springing Forth") may have represented the blooming of spring whilst Khimaira ("Frosty Air" ?)    PE′GASUS (Pêgasos). The famous winged horse, whose origin is thus related. When Perseus struck off the head of Medusa, with whom Poseidon had had intercourse in the form of a horse or a bird, there sprang forth from her Chrysaor and the horse Pegasus. The latter obtained the name Pegasus because he was believed to have made his appearance near the sources (pêgai) of Oceanus. 5. Chrysaor; About 263 results In Greek mythology(WikiPedia Chrysaor), was also said to be born from the neck of Medusa, whereas Pegasus was born from Medusa's blood.
   Medusa, one of the Gorgon sisters, the most beautiful, and the only mortal one, offended Athena by having sexual intercourse with Poseidon in one of Athena's temples, thereby desecrating it. Chrysaor and Pegasus were born from the drops of Medusa's blood which fell in the sea; some say that they sprang from Medusa's neck as Perseus beheaded her, a "higher" birth (such as the birth of Athena from the head of Zeus). Chrysaor is said to have been king of Iberia (Andorra, Gibraltar, Spain and Portugal). Chrysaor had one son, Geryon, from Callirrhoe, daughter of Oceanus.
